Ayeh
Breslov
Ayeh is a reference to a teaching in Likutey Moharan (Part 1) Torah 12 and to the 'Ayeh Technique' that is derived from it. In this discourse Rabbi Nachman of Breslov presents the method of 'Ayeh?', which translates as 'Where?' This technique is used to navigate spiritual darkness and find the hidden presence of Hashem.
Ayeh Technique When a person is on a low level and he can not perceive Hashem, he should yell 'where is Hashem. Meaning; he should pray and plead to Hashem about his great distance from the Truth.[1] It is customary to yell 'Ayeh' in a great scream. However one must take great care not to do so in public or where other people can hear him, in order not to cause a Chilul Hashem and cause confusion and damage.[1] Other Forms In addition to yelling, expressing one's distance from Hashem through sighs and groans is also a form of practicing Ayeh.[1] Beneficiaries The further a person feels from fear of Hashem and keeping the Torah, the more he should practice Ayeh.[1]
