Rabbi Yisroel of Kozhnitz was also known as the Kozhnitzer Maggid. He was a renown Kabbalist and one of the great early leaders of Chasidic Judaism in Poland.

Family His father's name was Rabbi Shabsi.[1] Sefarim Rebbe Yisroel Authored the sefer Avodas Yisroel Haskamos He wrote a Haskama for Likutey Moharan which is printed at the beginning of the Sefer. Signed on 4th of Shevat 5568 (January 15, 1808) in the city of Kozhnitz.[1]
